The University of Public Administration and Finance was re-established on 1 September 1999 following the merger of the University of Applied Sciences for Public Administration (FHöV) and the University of Applied Sciences for Finance (FHF). The two predecessor institutions were founded in the early 1970s, meaning that today we can draw on 50 years of experience in training specialists for the public sector. In line with our mission statement, we see ourselves as a university whose unique selling point is the training of qualified young professionals to carry out public service duties. The Ludwigsburg University of Public Administration and Finance is a public-law body with legal capacity and, at the same time, a state institution with the right to self-governance within the framework of the law. Under current higher education law, the university is classified as a university of applied sciences (HAW).
