Public Management (Gehobener Verwaltungsdienst)
The Bachelor programme Public Management is designed to provide students with a thorough grounding in law, business, social sciences and communication required at all levels of state and local administration. The three-year study programme must be preceded by a six-month internship, which allows students to gain practical experience in their preferred professional area. During their studies, students are introduced to the basic knowledge of Public Management and can choose an area where they want to deepen their knowledge. The 14-months on-the-job-training phase helps students to gain further practical experience. In this phase of the programme it is possible and recommended to go abroad for up to three months and work for one of our many international partners. The extra focus on teamwork further refines this practise-oriented programme. The majority of graduates already have a secure employment before they take their last exam. The programme is extremely popular with leading public employers (e.g. municipal, community, district administration and other state authorities) and a significant number of graduates have also become mayors.
